Multiple Displays Affecting performance

I plan on getting a second 1080p display for my desktop. Something just to hold all my apps like skype and steam windows while I play games. Or watch/listen to videos while I play. Will this dip my performance several frames per second? With my i5-4460 and R9 380 I get about 70-80 fps on high in GTA V, and 60-70 fps in Witcher 3 on high/hairworks off. Will running the display hurt my experience? Can I utilize my on-board gpu in my intel chip just for the second display to avoid it affecting games? If a second doesn't hurt, what number will? My full system specs are in my signature. Thanks in advance.

A second display won't produce any effect in game performance unless it is also running a game (or something else extremely graphically demanding)

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

if you use retarded/autistic/etc to mean stupid please gtfo

Interesting topic .

I have a main 1440p screen and a secondary 1080p one ( gtx 760 gpu )

If i just play csgo on the main one and the second one is at desktop , i get about 350 fps ( if i remove second monitor i still get 350 fps )

If i play csgo on the main one and watch a youtube 1080p fulscreen video on the other monitor, my frames drop to about 200 .

is it plugged in into the mobo ? Aren't those ports disabled if you have a gpu ? any link to how to do this ?

Yes

depends on the mobo but you can change it in the bios

Here is a guide

1. unplug monitor from gpu

2. plug monitor into mobo

3. profit

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Wait.. is that a thing?

Interesting thing .

When i watch a video in a browser window on my second(igpu) or first screen(gpu) , both the gpu and igpu show usage up to 30% .

When i start a game , only the gpu shows usage and if i start a video while playing the gpu goes to 80% and the igpu to abut 50% :/

Linus needs to make a video on this
