Hello, I have been looking into cpu coolers, and I was wondering if I should purchase a water cooler, or just stick with a air cooler and save some money. I will only be doing a mild overclock, and Im hoping for a 4.0 ghz or a 4.2 ghz overclock. If I should choose air cooling, what cooler should I use? My specs are in my sig.

If you don't mind noise then an air cooler is fine. A 212 evo or bequiet pure rock are both great and will keep your cpu cool.

I thought most AIOs are noisier since you have pump noise AND fan noise where air coolers only have fan noise.

I'm assuming that he'll get a cheap cooler that would be louder under load due to lower cooling capacity versus an expensive AIO.

By budget is a max of 150, but I would like to stay at 100 or under.

If we would be talking about AIO and air cooler that are same range in terms of performance, AIO

By budget is a max of 150, but I would like to stay at 100 or under.

USD? be Quiet! Dark Rock would be optimal in air coolers. Its midrange in terms of price and performance. It will be enough for general OC and look good in your case.
