What PSU would you recommend for a system that has an I7 6700k and a 390x? Best if it has good quality (Japan capacitors instead of Chinese) and it doesn't make a lot of noise.

Because i bought a Seasonic 1050w gold thinking the hybrid fan mode was going to be silent and in reality i'ts horrendous (its even louder than the GPU while gaming), it kicks to full fan speed when its absolutely not needed, like when browsing, and it also does that randomly while gaming. And "normal" mode is just the fan at 100% all the time.

So, yea, i dont want to pick the wrong one this time xD.

Also, price is not a problem, and i dont mind going overkill to have a more silent psu.

And, well, in some years i will want to change the GPU without changing the PSU, so i also want a bit of headroom for updates and overclocking.

The full specs are this, just in case:

Asus Maximus Hero VIII

I7 6700k

Sapphire Tri-X AMD 390X

2x8 Gb G-skill 3000Mhz CL15

Corsair H110i GTX (it has stock fans but in a couple of days im going to replace them with a pair of NF-A14 Noctuas)

Corsair Obsidian 750D (might replace the fans in the future)

2 Seagate 3TB

2 Samsung 840 evo 250Gb

Seasonic 1050W Gold

Higher end Corsair PSUs have zero rpm modes and my RM hasn't had to use the fan yet. Be Quiet should Have some quiet ones too. If you really want silence, look into fanless power supplies.

RMA the SeaSonic PSU. My SeaSonic S12G is silent and you may have received a defective PSU.

  • 3 weeks later...

Ended picking up the Corsair RM1000i.

Working like a charm and dead silent. The only downside is that the cables were a bit hard to route in the case because they are a bit short and have some non flex zones that have some componentes inside, but when all is setup i encountered no problems.

Thanks for the help guys :).
