Need help choosing cpu/motherboard/gpu for 1080p gaming

Soulstrife

Hi all, I was able to sell my old rig and have about 800 to 900 to spend for a new CPU, Motherboard and GPU, and possibly Ram if it's a skylake build.

Right now this is my monitor and I will not be changing it out until it dies. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236153

A few things I would like, but not needed:

Optical Output and a black / red themed motherboard.

I have 16gb of 1600  G.Skill Ripjaw memory, 850w Corsair PSU, and a H110i GTX for the cooler.

I know there isn't any way to "future" proof something, but would like to make this last 3+ years for now with the option to go to a better monitor if my current one bites the dust.

Thanks!

Skylake? Please.

Almost fits the budget, you get the black/red mobo and you have a goddamn 980Ti.
If you lack money you can sell your cooler as well cause the xeon can run on the stock one and it's more powerful than a 4690k anyway. And 8 threaded.

seconded this. the power of a i7 on a price of a i5. you can go wrong with that. also, Overkill is always a better thing than "Underkill" (Bad joke :P)

Because the xeon has the performance of an i7 while having the  price of the 4690k

This is simply the best he can get for the money. i5-4690k < E3-1231v3 in terms of raw performance and computing power.

If it fits his budget, why settle down for worse components that will be relevant for a shorter period of time?

The Xeon is actually cheaper as well than the 4690k due to no need of a Z97 motherboard which are most expensive LGA1150 mobos and no need for an expensive cooler.

Really interesting O.o.

But isn't that xeon old? He might get more functions out of the i5.

I just remembered xeons have more functions. :/
