How to check if my current PSU is still good for future use?

i have the seasonic 600w psu at the moment, probably going to upgrade it to the Seasonic X Series 650w.

i forgot the exact model, i could my rig later afternoon, it's currently 2.35 AM and i need my rest. xD

anyway, it is almost 3 years old.

currently, it is powering:

  • CPU: i5-3450 @ 3.1Ghz
  • RAM: 8 GB DDR3 @1600MHz
  • Motherboard: Asus P8H77M_LE
  • Primary Drive: WD 1TB
  • Optical Drive: DVDRW SATA 24X ATA Device

it did powered my AMD Radeon 7770 but currently, the GPU is out of service. not sure what happened. some say it is the psu fault and some say it is the gpu fault.

oh, i am playing my games using the intel integrated graphics and so far, zero sudden shutdown.

if you haven't had system freezes, random shutdowns, failed start-up attempts, missed POSTs I'd say it's not the PSU. SeaSonic are usually good quality but if it's the S12II or M12II series it's at the end of it's life cycle. The X-series come with a 5 or 7 (can't remember) year warranty and are VERY good units. I full-heartedly recommend them.

no problems. What are the issues with your GPU and hold old is it btw? it could be natural causes.

it is almost 3 years old as well, the same as the PSU, i pick most of the parts except for the PSU and luckily ended up with a good PSU.

the issues is that, whenever i launched a game, the screen will turn black, as if it is being hibernated or sleeping but it just can't be turn on again so i just have force shutdown it.

i tried tons of solutions, none of em work. i searched for two weeks on the internet for the solution and there was none.

that is why i am playing my games, well only playing LOL at the moment, on a medium graphics settings. xD good enough for me :D

i will be getting a new GPU by early november...IF i managed to find a store that is selling the 970 that i want.

P/S the gpu died on early July. xD
