Gaming PC, Will the components work together?

Go to solution Solved by Tedster,

Hey guys,

I'm getting more and more into gaming (CS:GO, The Witcher) and thinking of building a custom PC but I'm just not sure, if all the parts I chose will work with each other and, if it will even be a good combo. Help and comments to change any of the parts very much appreciated.

Parts list:

-Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5

-CPU  Intel Core i5 4690K

-Graphics card ASUS STRIX GTX970 4GB 256bit OC

-RAM KINGSTON HyperX Savage DDR3 8GB 2x 4GB CL9 1866MHz

-HDD WD Blue 1TB 7200rpm SATA/600

-SDD 120GB Kingston HYPERX 560MB/s

-Power Supply Corsair CX Series 500W

-Fans BitFenix Spectre PRO 120mm

Help and comments to change any of the parts very much appreciated!!!

Welcome to the Forum.

From what I can tell, they will all work together, but I don't see a case.

The Corsair CX Series isn't great and you should really go for something else instead.

Lastly, you can probably get an R9 290/x/390/x for the same price as the 970 and it performs better.

No, CX series are unreliable and that particular one will blow up as soon as you leave your PC unattended, which will result in your house burning down.

Get a different power supply.

That actually looks pretty good. However, since I'm guessing you'll overclock, you will want to change that PSU for a better one. Like something from EVGA G2, Seasonic, or XFX.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X            | Cooler: Deepcool AK400  | Motherboard: B550 Elite AX V2  | Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 1TB  |

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB   | GPU: MSI RTX 3060 Ti    | Case: NZXT H440 (Red/Black)    | PSU: EVGA 650W G2             |

The case is a Corsair Carbide Spec-01, I'll look for another power supply but is 500W enough?

500w should be enough, yes, but the CX series really isn't good.

Oh, and I forgot, you'll want to throw in a good aftermarket CPU cooler. The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo is pretty good for the price.

you might want to go up to 550 minimum

but for futureproofing you may want to get even more in case you ever want to add another gpu or use it in another system down the line

CPU: i5 6600k @ 4.6 ghz  Motherboard: Asus z170-a  Cooling: Corsair h80i GT GPU: EVGA GTX 970  Ram: G.Skill 2x8 gb ddr4 2400  PSU: EVGA G2 Supernova 550w  Case: Corsair 200r Storage: 250GB 850 EVO + 2x wd 1 tb drives

Get a different power supply.

I have to disagree. Mine has yet to do that and I leave it unattended for hours at times. I've had it for about half a year now.

Please don't over exaggerate this.

It is a bad PSU though.

Just checked the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Eco CPU cooler but it seems like it isn't compatible with the 1150 socket the MSI motherboard has, will it still mount fine?

Any board that accepts 1150 CPU's will take the Hyper 212. Or at least should.
