NZXT H440 Matte Black and Slight Updates!

Kenji the Uke

I am curious, with the increased height, could it now fit 2 360mm rads without clearance issues?

I love that they didn't actually show anything about improved front ventilation... H440 is even worse at front ventilation than the define r5 and unless they can somehow get better than the define s (which I would argue is almost impossible from a silent optimized case) I really don't give a shit.

Honestly, I have an H440 and have never had any issue with poor ventilation. My system below sits overclocked and never goes over 65c CPU and 70c GPU. System ambient temp is about 33c at idle according to bios. I did a push/pull in the exhaust and added an intake on the roof, plenty of cool air gets fed to the system.

I think most people that say it has poor ventilation don't even own it and just assume. You won't regret doing a build with it, it's a great case.

Different temps standards lol. (And much more power hungry gpu setups).

it might 3: We should spam Linus's account for him to do a quick overview

I doubt that he'll do a full video on it. I'm guessing someone like Jay or the guys at MNPC might give it a video.

It has pretty bad heat retention from all that foam. Front intakes get pretty choked if you fill it up with drive cages.

Other than that, I really like it.

Apparently they fixed that though 3:

I was thinking the same thing. Those are my two favorite cases.. ;w;

Ye the only reason I was leaning towards the R5 more was because it has better airflow while still being quiet. I, however, prefer the looks of the h440 and now that it has better airflow it might win me back over. The only thing is the H440 is around $110 and the Define S is only $80. I'll probably pony up for the H440 cuz it honestly just looks so fantastic.

I believe there are fan placements at the top and three in front and one in back

  • 3 weeks later...

Ooo.. I missed the part that they might have updated the fan hub to PWM. If that is the case (teehee), then I'm definitely getting this over the R5.

I hope someone does a comparison of the original H440 and the revised edition to see the differences in temperatures, noise etc...

Probably not much in terms of temps -- I get about 10ºc difference with all the panels on vs. all the panels off, so figure SLIGHTLY less restricted airflow...and probably talking about 3ºc at most (even that I kind of doubt).
