Whats the difference between this really cheap r9 390- http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvr939g1gaming8gd

And this one- http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-strixr9390dc3oc8gd5gaming

Besides price. Thanks :)

Clock speeds, aesthetics, length, don't think the Gigabyte one has a backplate but the Asus does, please correct me if I'm wrong.

It actually has a pretty sexy backplate :P

Don't get the Gigabyte one. People have tons of problems with it. Don't get the ASUS Strix either, the cooler sucks. I recommend the 390 Nitro from Sapphire.

Since when does its cooler suck? lol

And since when does the dual fan version suck?

It doesn't suck per se. It just gets really hot. :P  like 80-90c hot with default fan curve.. I mean its not bad for the card there designed to handle that much heat. But not everyone needs a mini heater in their room

Well, fair enough.  :)

In case you didn't know:

Doesn't matter how hot the card runs. It always puts out the same amount of heat. With a better cooler the warm air just gets faster away from the core.

I was talking about the Strix card, that cooler sucks. The Gigabyte one just has issues with shutdown and stuff, as well as a locked BIOS and locked voltage and what not.

I know that you were talking about the Strix. And it's cooler doesn't suck.

Did I hear that right? Do you even know what the VRMs do?

Yes. They spin very fast and make the card fly, right? :)

Really, the VRMs, especially on the ASUS Strix, are designed to run that hot. ASUS did not see any reason to use better cooling on that card for a reason. They have a completly automated manufacturing process and they also use their own kind of VRMs afaik.

ASUS probably knows what they're doing, don't you think so?
