a 360 and a 240

i agree with this but the more rad space the lower ur fans can run to acheve the same temp so the more the better

so i want to custom water cool my i7 4770k oc to 4.5 and my gtx 780, how much rad would i need?

i a looking at 30 fins per inch radiators that are 25mm thick

if you want quiet fans and low temps, you need to increase the radiator thickness and/or

decrease FPI usually minimum to hold less than 1200rpom fan speeds and tolerable

temps a 360x 60 or 2x 240x 60 radiators.

ok now say i do 50 mm rads

better.. how sensitive are you to constant fan noise?

what case is this all fitting in?

I'm running an I5 2500k (4.5 OC) and a 780 (1253mhz OC) cooled by a 420mm,  60mm thick rad and get great temps. 780 never goes above 45

your CPU will put out some more heat obviously but I figured you could use a reference

that's great for GPU and expected.. but the CPU is what is critical for temperatures.

what are you seeing for CPU temps and what voltage?

A 360 and at least 30mm thick is all you need

^this

to OP

Honestly this is really all you "need". Since you posted you don't care about noise you can prolly even get away with a 240 (45ish mm and thicker) and high rpm fans. From there you can add more rads and turn down fan speeds...

The normal minimum rule for water cooling is one 120mm wide by 25mm deap rad per item being water-cooled. Then plus one rad. So if your water-cooling a cpu and gpu you would want a 360mm rad. If you wanted really good temperatures and near silent running fans increase the thickens of a rads or add and extra one if you have the room.

I hope this is clear

My watercooling set up is as follows: I have one 240mm x 25mm all copper rad and one 240mm x 86mm rad. All have corsair sp120 quite editions with stepdowns to.

And this is cooling my CPU and GPU

Nice and quite. any more questions please ask.

Not sure what your talking about. A 240mm rad will not give very satisfying results because a 360 has more surface area even if the 240 is 45mm thick. I don't think I ever posted "I Don't care about noise" but if I did that has changed. If OP can fit a 260 then he should fit a 360. If not I recommend he adds a 120mm / 140mm to the rear of the case

I clarified my original post.  I was quoted you as to confirm what you said, my actual comment was directed at the OP.

what I meant by the 240 comment is that it would be enough to run the system.  Of course a 360 or more would be better.  But as far as bare minimum you can easily run a cpu and gpu on a thickish 240 as long as you have some pretty good fans on it.
