Hey everyone

I have a question, I use my PC mainly for gaming and I recently made a new build.

When I am gaming my CPU never comes anywhere near 100% utilization, so I wonder how much overclocking my CPU would really make any difference on gaming.

My specs are i7 4770k, GTX 670, Asus Maximus VI Impact, h100i cooler, 8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance.

I know that those components begs for overclocking, but I wonder if i really gain anything gaming wise.

Thanks for your inputs.

Over clocking your graphics card makes a difference. It's free performance upgrades, CPU's I'm not too sure but I don't think they make a difference at all

Overclocking your gpu will make a bigger difference. But it doesn't hurt to overclock your cpu if you can

Overclocking your CPU can give you big benefits if the game is CPU intensive. Like Skyrim, Crysis 2 and 3, Battlefield 3, Far Cry 3, etc.

You spent the money on an unlocked CPU so why not? I don't even overclock for the performance really it's just addicting trying to get that extra hundred megahertz lol. If you bought an enthusiast grade unlocked CPU overclock it. If you bought any graphics card at all, overclock it.

If you feel that your games are not giving you enough performance, you can overclock it. I would personally wait since your components are still pretty good. Some games are cpu and/or gpu intensive so some games might not utilize the full potential of your cpu/gpu.

Overclocking your gpu will give a significant increase in performance.

Use Msi Afterburner. It's relatively easy.

I have pretty much the same hardware as you h100i and 4770K unfortunately I was unable to even barely overclock my processor I would get insane temps @4.5Ghz or even 4.4Ghz. I have to run my CPU @stock to get "good" temps with the h100i. But it doesn't hurt to see whether you have a good CPU or not. As a starter see if you can run stable @4.5Ghz with 1.21V. If you can run that you've got a great CPU and don't use prime95 to stress test

How much does an gpu oc can improve? (fps wise)

Depends on the game and and the gpu but anywhere from 5-30%.
