Shadow of Mordor - 4500mb VRAM Usage 1080p?

Go to solution Solved by Samfisher,

Hey guys, I've never heard of SOM going over 3500mb on a 1080p display. When I benchmarked my SOM, it went all the way up to 4500mb+ on max settings! Is there a reason for this?

P.S. I have motion lag disabled.

From MSI Afterburner or from in-game VRAM indicator?  Cos that's inaccurate.  Some games like GTA V show you X number that will be "reserved" by the game, not actual VRAM being used.  Reserved VRAM becomes unavailable for other programs.  SOM does use quite a bit of VRAM though, are you rendering at 100%?  You might have accidentally set the in-game DSR above that and you could be rendering at a higher res and scaling down (works like SSAA).

Textures,thats why

Videos I've watched of it being used as a benchmark said that it never exceeded 3500 at 1080p even with the HD texture pack so I'm really confused.

I have an EVGA 980 Ti Superclocked ACX 2.0+ so it still isn't using all my VRAM but this is alarming.

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner!

Ya, the EVGA Precision X was giving me wrong readings, in-game it uses 3500mb. Thanks!
