Budget mic for commentary, voiceovers, and skype?

Gershy13

Hi Guys,

Can someone suggest me a good mic, that i can use for game commentary, voiceovers, and talking to people?

I already have a mic stand, and clip, but depending on the mic, i still need a shock mount.

My keyboard isn't quiet, but its not excessively loud.

I have a mixer and output cable to go to the line in port of my pc, so i can use XLR and phantom power mics.

i also have a sound card, but its firewire, so i'm looking to get a pci adapter.

I used to have the Wharfedale Diamond D2.0, and that worked well, but it broke.

I tried my brother's Behringer c1, but it picked up the keyboard too much, so i dont think condenser is the way to go.

Im looking at the Samson C7 and C8, and they look alright, the C7 seems like a deal!

The shure sm58 or sm57 is ok too, but a bit more than i am willing to pay.

Im looking for about £50 max.

I also need to buy a boom arm, and i found one on amazon.

I cannot find a shockmount for the Samson q7, or any other dynamic vocal mic.

Thanks

Gershy13

If you can spend the extra money get the Blue Yeti, and maybe even the Yeti Pro. It's worth every extra penny and more, you won't regret it.

Yeti

Yeti Pro

The Yeti Pro is definately more expensive but I've owned all 3, Snowball / Yeti / Yeti Pro and I definately like the Yeti Pro the most.

SAVE!! I promise you won't regret it

that will pick up my keyboard noise though, i would get one of them, but they are too expensive, and i think the AT2020 is ok, but its condenser, so it will pick up keyboard noise, i need a  dynamic mic, that will help reduce noise...

Found this gem, it doesn't block up the ambient noise as good as the more expensive mics, but you're really spending pennys

Rode NT Usb - a little expensive, but it's extremely good at capturing sound that is CLOSE TO IT ONLY!

I don't either, but the Zalman clip-on mic is hands-down the best mic for what you need it to do, and it's only like $8 on amazon last I checked. That'd be my recommendation.

I don't really get any keyboard noise when I use mine, get the settings right and it works perfectly.

hmm... ok, i might just have to go with the samson one, because at £20 its not too expensive, and it rivals the shure sm58, which is very good!

Put a piece of cloth under it, get a pop filter or make it yourself (bunch of tutorials on youtube) and enjoy your sound quality... Some people say it sounds as good as a snowball, so there you go.
