D-link Powerline AV 500 help please

I made a similar topic to this a while back, but i slightly "fixed it" by using wireless instead of powerline.

I realised wireless was giving me much less stable results, and my ping kept spiking from 40 to 5/600 very often.

The powerlink should be more consistent, but the problem is now i only get 2.5 download speed while the rest of the house gets 25-30...

Any idea what could cause this? i tried it before a couple months back and got like 11mb so i dont think it is the powerline itself

I have had trouble with powerline adapters in the past whenever a new electrical device was added somewhere in the house. When a new ceiling fan was installed in our living room my powerline thruput went down on my bedroom adapter while the ceiling fan was on, it came back up when the fan was off.

When the microwave oven in the kitchen is on I also have the same problem.

Powerline networking has it's advantages but it is not without it's problems.

Just my .02.

Good luck.

sounds like you have other network gremlins as well. What is the throughput on wifi for the pc you are trying to hook up to the powerline adapter? What are you trying to ping at getting a 40ms baseline? As long as you are pinging a reputable service like google ping should be about max 40ms. I personally average 15-20ms ping to google on wifi.
