Metro 2033

Go to solution Solved by Volbet,

Does the GPU underperforme in other games? Do you use the latest driver?

Also if you are running Metro 2033 with AA and DoF it just kills FPS

Hello there,

I've just got Metro 2033, but it's totally unplayable for me.

Actually, for 2 reasons:

1. Sad fps. Even though I have a gtx 770, I get 30-40-ish frames that sometimes drop; I should get a lot more, why did I pay for this card otherwise ._.

2. Crashing. It constantly crashes after about 1 minute of playing. Sometimes it just doesn't move anymore, sometimes it shows the screen split in 4 squares that all have another color...

Can anyone help? Would it be possible to return this GPU since it's so sadly underperforming etc.? :(

Thanks.

metro 2033 and last light are optimized badly, they make my 660 Ti drop to 7 FPS at random even at lowest settings, where the usual fps hangs around 40-60 FPS on high until the fps drop happens then I have to finish the map before it gets back to normal, sometimes I'm able to play for hours without this happening though.

I do not have exact numbers but in pretty much every game it 'feels' like it's not performing as it should.

Latest drivers: yes.

It still seems to crash, does anyone have any experience with this too?

Try and run 3DMark and see if the result is as high as it should be.

I had a problem with Metro: Last Light that was caused Physx, I don't have that problem with 2033 though

Should be a little higher, comparing to other gtx770 + 4670k scores.

Hmm, have you monitored the card with MSi Afterburner to if it boosts as it should and what temps it gets. Also check if your CPU throttles

It does bosst but that doesn't seem to give any performance in-game somehow and I can't test it in metro because it's totally unplayable thanks to the crashing.

My CPU shouldn't throttle since it's kept relatively cool, although I find it too warm for my dark rock pro 2 :p

I've played 2033 on 5 different PC's and I've never had it crash even after hours of playing.

Is it the driver you're on the latest WHQL driver or the latest beta driver?

It says it's the 320.49 driver, that's all I have knowledge about.

Try and download the latest beta driver. The older ones aren't suited for the 7xx series cards

Using the GeForce experience, I installed the drivers I had again, and for some reason Metro has not crashed yet and runs at minimal 45 fps, in some places it even runs at 90-110 :)

If it decides to crash again, I'll certainly try those beta drivers, thanks for all the help!

Every pc gamer deserve better than dodgy console ports and rushed incomplete games, speaking of which, Visit  PCgamingwiki for un official patches, bug fixes, FOV fixes and more! For more info visit http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Home, search by game.

I think I should add that site to my signature, I've shamelessly plugged it so many times, at this rate  it would be more efficient to just post a copy/paste message like
