So I currently have a Corsair Carbide AIR 540, I always move around with it and the weight is getting more and more annoying everyday. So I decided I wanted to switch to a very portable Micro-ATX build.

My current build is :

CPU : I5 4690K at 4.7ghz (1.380v) cooled by a NH-D15

GPU : R9 290X Vapor X 4GB

DRIVES : Samsung 840 evo 120gig, 2TB seagate barracuda, 60gb Kinston v300 and a seagate momentus laptop 500Gb HDD (I run windows and linux)

MOBO : MSI Z97-G45

PSU : Seasonic m12ii EVO 620 watts

Additional stuff: I have 4 biutfenix spectre 120mm fans (3 for intake in front 1 in the back)

What would be the best portable case for a micro atx build that supports my R9 290X and NH-D15 (I am NOT changing coolers).

I also would like to know which motherboard would be able to OC my I5 as good as it is now without combustion. Please reccomend me some other motherboard than the ROG one, they're way too expensive for what they are.

Thanks for reading :)

eh, you'd be hard pressed to find one that fits the D15, especially one with portability in mind.

Actually, the AeroCool DS Cube seems to fit it. so there's a start (plenty of colours as well)

EDIT: Add the ThermalTake Core V21 to the list (as a more budget option)

That's about it for cases small enough to be considered portable, yet fit the D15.

Regarding motherboard, just get one that's Z97 and matches any colour scheme you may have. i don't think any board would overclock much better than any other. If you plan to Xfire make sure you get one that supports it (much easier to come by than ones with SLI support).

As a suggestion any of these 3 probably (depending on colour scheme):

I can get my hands on a NH-D14 (my friend has one and he doesn't mind exchanging it for the nh-d15 if there are no cases that support it)

I really want to keep the ND-D15 because I just bought it 4 months ago on sale and I really love it and I don't want to get rid of it >.>

well the cases i suggested should fit the D15, if you have a tape measure around, the DS Cube is 411mm x 265mm x 381mm (HxWxD), and should be fairly easy to pick up. as it's "feet" give it a sizable clearance (+the horizontal motherboard alleviates the stress of the D15)

Okay so that's the case. Now for the motherboard/cooler/gpu compatability, I assume I won't be able to use the first PCIE slot for my gpu if I put my nh-d15 in there, will my gpu still run fine if I put it in the the 2nd slot (Im choosing the gigabyte one)

It should, there are quite a few people around this forum that have their only graphics card a few PCIe lines down. it's just a bit more staved for fresh air
