7970 Crossfire in the future?

Go to solution Solved by Excon,

The drivers made a massive change in 2 way xfire configurations. However I don't think anyone anywhere can tell you what you should have 2 years down the road, just wait and see

My 7970 should be arriving soon and I'm pretty excited because it's going to be a massive upgrade from my GTX 460. However, I am already starting to think ahead and am wondering whether or not I should add a second 7970 2 years down the road, or whether I should sell it and get a new card when the time comes. I'm asking this because of the new Crossfire drivers that AMD just released - have they solved the major flaws with Crossfire or are there still issues that need to be fixed?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

AMD has done some amazing work with the beta drivers and I believe they will bring crossfire up to the level of sli when they're finished with the driver.

No one can tell for sure though.

You don't need the second card now. Figure it out when you need to upgrade.
