It seems I know nothing about these modern components, so I'll leave it up to everyone else ('Im lazy)  The minimum I'd like to have is a 8 core CPU  and being able to run games in 1080P at ultra setting.  (And yes I am aware of PCpartpicker) I do currently have a build layed out just not with the wisest components *Cough Cough* AMD AM3+ from 2013

Thank you to anyone who suggests stuff

Why do you need 8 cores?

He doesn't, he just is used to fake 8 cores from AMD. It basically means just choose him an i7.

*Sigh* Virtualzation and server hosting.....

Still don't... And AMD 8 core << Intel 4 core w/ HT as we have stated.

A 5820k would obliterate everything else though. Perhaps see @don_svetlio 's build but with the g2 750W psu (same with a hitachi deskstar HDD) instead as it's cheaper and just as good

Or something like this: With notably better cooling a stronger overclock on the 5820k can be reached. I did have to downspec the case though or I was 7 dollars over budget... Still if you have a current computer and have storage already let us know and we can make some adjustments to be less skimpy.

Get the 5820K - 6 cores, 12 threads. The 8350 doesn't even come close to this. The only good 8-core you could game with is the 5960X and that costs as much as your budget alone

I would agree on an absolute scale, but the g2 is more than good enough, and I did just manage to squeeze in a 240 AIO (the lepa one is actually very good, esp considering its price.) See the edit.

hahaha. I got an 850 g2 currently, and most of the time the fan stays off as my case air flow is enough to cool it (because it's a little bit overpowered for my build, yet sadly I might need to grab a 1k for sli in the future...)

850W should be fine for 980 Ti SLI - it's fine for Fury X CF. A single stock one of both draws about 300W - it's fine as long as you don't go crazy with the OC :P

My S12G does not give a shit even at max load - thing is a bit warm to the touch but quiet as fuck. I've never even been able to hear the fan with my ear on the exhaust xD

On a z platform I'd agree, but I got my 5820k up at 4.5 with 1.3 V and that alone probably draws around 200 W. I'm sure I might be able to do it, but I don't really feel comfortable with it haha.

good to know, I don't really have any way of putting my head under my case at full load anyways hahaha.

You see, this is where if you had an X-series 850W you could comfortably overload it with 50-100W and not have it burn :)

Don, my next PSU will be a SeaSonic. Scouts honor. You're one hell of a salesperson lol. *no joke. You've sold me*

Haha - I'm thinking of applying at our version of Walmart as a system builder or just a salesman. Might just get them selling halfway decent systems.

I almost bought a ibuypower because of Walmart... I'm not proud of that. Just lucky I didn't. If they want a reference use me. You know, that random internet person lol.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Had a classmate get theirs With a broken MOBO. No way they got it to post before sending it out. Or my classmate could be full of poop. Never saw it just went off their testimony. But it got me to research the cost difference between building yourself and them. You are the first person I've met that has anything nice to say about them.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Ibuypower are a boutique system builder - they do charge for building it but not nearly as bad systems as Walmart and Best Buy - they also don't cheap out on stuff and build it with care. I think your classmate either got unlucky or has his head up his ass and just wants attention.
