Antivirus shut down time?

So just before i got rid of mcafee i timed how loong it takes for my pc to shut down after i get it to shut down from the start bar(win7 home premium sp1) 

 

With mcafee: 1min 36sec

Without Mcafee: 12sec

 

Mind Blown.

 

Any of you guys expect this sort of thing, i should have checked boot time differences as well.

I tried this in the past due to my parents experiencing a similar issue. Windows Defender & No windows defender had no difference. Avast! Added a couple of seconds.

Probably there are lots of services and exes from Mcafee that is really slowing it down and it takes a while to unload resources. You should try another antivirus like Avira in order to shutdown faster.

Some programs that have lot of background activity take some time to shut them all down before windows can shut down. Like Steam.

steam takes up 200mb of ram for me, mcafee get this mcafee took up 7GB YES 7GB, lets take a second to absorb that.

Parents will be parents, there is nothing i can do about it. Im just using the avg free stuff now, the shutdown time is about 40 seconds now but whatever
