Sudden speed and connection drops.

I was doing some testing with figuring out why my internet is so shit for me in particular, and after doing some tests I realized something.

 

What I did was, I restarted my router and disabled my Wifi card. I waited for the router to restart, then re-enabled it (Assigning me a new network address).

 

I did a speedtest very shortly after, and I got the speeds I was supposed to (23 megabits per second). Which is reasonable for my distance from the router.

 

But then when I wait a few minutes, and do the test my speeds drop down to 5 megabits per second. This makes no sense at all.

 

Every time I did the process I mentioned, my speeds would be what they were supposed to be. And after awhile they would drop to 5 megabits per second again.

 

Any idea on why this is happening, and how to fix it?

Interference?  Your wifi card is bad? or perhaps your router? this stuff happens to me too. I can't load up ltt on my desk but if my put my laptop on my lap and turn to the right I can play a 1080p video just fine.

Figured it out, apparently my router was switching me over to the 2.4Ghz band for basically just an extra bar of connection.

 

Just made another SSID for 5Ghz and connect to that now.
