Hdmi to Hdmi and audio converter not working!

Im setting up a chromecast in my room. I have a monitor with no speakers so i bought

LinkS HDMI to HDMI with SPDIF + 3.5mm +R/L Audio Extractor Converter for Chromecast

I plugged the thing in along with the chromecast and speakers and monitor but it doesnt work!

dont think its supported

(chromecast is a rather simple device)

I cant access the chromecast b/c no video

I would say its probably a defective cable. Have you tried plugging things in in different orders? my slimport cable for my phone and tablet is a huge ass for this and the first one I bought didnt work at all.
