PC Failing to boot PLEASE HELP.

Silicon_Build

I have just done some fiddling with cable management within my PC and then afterwards I turned on my computer and everything appeared to be working I am able to get into the BIOS and everything however...

Windows (7) is just completely just doesn't work now if I don't go into the BIOS and or after I have exited the BIOS and obviously it attempts to boot Win7 I get this error:

"Reboot and Select proper Boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press key"

It been working fine till I just cleared up a few cables. I have Windows on a 240GB Kingston SSD and another 1TB Barracuda HDD. All the hardware seems to be working properly otherwise and I checked all the cables are in the drives properly.

Please help!!

Sounds like one of your sata-data cables or sata-power cables went loose, try replugging it? And by replugging I mean pull it out and then insert to be sure, don't just assume if it's hard to get out, it's in there.

Also @Silicon_Build follow your own threads

Are your drives even detected in the BIOS? "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press key" means that the computer cannot find any drives with valid boot sector.

Are both of drives, SDD & HDD posting in BIOS?

   A. Were you cleaning with the power on?

   B. Did you use anti-static wrist straps?

   C. Did you damage fragile & exposed MB surface or SDD/HDD's accidentally?

   D. Did you try unplugging & plugging back in the POWER & DATA cables for the drives? (with power off)

---

1. If it goes thru the BIOS POST (power on self test), the MB & HW are probably ok.

2. If the BIOS detects the SDD & HDD, the drives should be ok.

3. If it hangs at Windows 7 startup, its probably a software issue.

---

It sounds like one of your cables is loose, I would try unplugging each one by one and plugging them back in firmly, see if that helps.
