GTX 960 4GB VS R9 380 On Older System

Hello, 
I have an old pc with a

Amd Phenom II 965
7GB Ram (ddr2)
GTX 460

700W Power Supply

and i was wondering if my CPU will bottleneck a Potential GTX 960 or r9 380
Specifically the models

should i go for the GTX750 Ti 2GB Golden Sample instead and upgrade when i can upgrade the rest of my components?

On DX11 games the 380 will be a bit more CPU bottle-necked than the 960, but both will be...

 

You could get something like a 370 for now, or the 750ti as you said.

750ti will perform ok on current DX11 coping better with the CPU bottleneck,

but on future DX12 and Vulkan games the 370 will be considerably faster.

Dont bother getting the 4gb 960 it cant utilise that extra vram

The 370 seems the best solution to me too (if the bottleneck is inevitable) and as with every amd card driver support will render it significantly better than the 750 Ti that has already reached it's full potential!

Τhe thing is that i plan to fully upgrade in 6 months and the 380 will be fine for an new system when the 370 will not

so i was thinking to give 80$ more now and not just waste 185$ in a soon to be unusable piece of hardware

Yes if you are getting a new CPU/platform within 6 months then just go with the 380

EDIT: Depends on the game really - GPU-bound games won't bottleneck. CPU games like RTSs (Total War series) might - but the Phenom II is a solid chip - don't worry about it.

Yeah, i had 8GB but a 2gb module stopped working and i had a 1gb that i weren't using thus the weird number!

Erm that is weird also its not causing issues? You should never miss-match RAM!

it's fine - I've done it - nothing bad happens as long as latency and speed are the same

It's the same Stick, just the 1GB version same brand same series same speed and latency!

Then I would run it in single channel if possible but yeah it should work I guess!
