UPDATE: my 'hotrod' R9 280x

Hey guys!

So a while back i posted a thread about a 'hotrod' (or according to some: 'ghetto') R9 280x that I got off a friend.

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/439660-hotrod-r9-280x-for-91-usd/

I just finished a build with it and I just wanted to share some of the pics here. It's just a simple HTPC/LAN party build. I bought all the parts used/second-hand except for the CPU and the 92mm rear fan on the case.

For those that haven't read the previous post, the blue light on the video card is actually and LCD screen hooked up to a thermal sensor on the GPU.

Specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition

RAM: 8GB Ripjaws DDR3 1600Mhz

GPU: 'Hotrod' Sapphire R9 280x

Storage: 2TB Sapphire Barracuda 7200 rpm

PSU: ULTRA HS 750W Modular PSU 80 plus Bronze

MOBO: MSI H81M-P33

CASE: Fractal Design Core 1000

Here are some pics of the build:

Congrats. 7970, 7970Ghz, 280x have doing very well in recent DX12 benchmarks.

Been a while since I saw a PSU on the top. Played any games yet?

That's great news! My 280x should do well with upcoming DX12 games then! I haven't installed any games yet, but I will soon. This build is just for "light" gaming. I'll probably be playing CS GO, League of Legends, Battlefield 4, and some MMORPGs on it.

This is my first build using a top mounted PSU as well. The case is a Fractal Design Core 1000.It's brand new, but I got it off a classifieds site for $35CAD ($26USD) and it came with a 620W Antec 80plus bronze PSU (brand new as well)  so I couldn't resist.
