How do you tell which CAT to get

Whats the longest distance before it starts losing speed (use ft pls)

And is the Ethernet thingy on the msi gaming 5 bad?

An Ethernet cable can go as far as about 330 feet. As far as the grade of Ethernet cable, the average home user does not need anything better than cat6 but nothing worse than cat5 UNLESS you have fiber internet in which cat6e and above would be recommended.

Cat5 can do up to 100Mb/s over 100 metres (approx 328 feet)

Cat5e can do up to 1Gb/s over 100 metres (approx 328 feet)

Cat6 can do up to 10Gb/s over 100 metres (approx 328 feet)

well the reason im doing ethernet now is cus my internet is shit and wifi is shit so maybe ethernet will be better

You'd be fine with cat5, though I'd personally suggest going with cat5e as it's a bit higher quality, and also leaves more room for future upgrades. (Not to mention it will let your connection to other devices on your network be a max of 1Gb/s instead of 100Mb/s)

im getting 100mb/s down and 10 up in january next year probabley sooo. should I go for cat5e then

cat6 anything better is just wasting your money unless you are going to be upgrading to fiber later

I doubt I will ever get cat6 speeds....

It took 7 years for my neighborhood to get 100mb down and up/fiber in my area...

By the time they get 10gb's ill have a job and live somewhere else
