Audio Setup Help

Go to solution Solved by ShearMe,

You seem to be on the right track and all your assumptions are correct. I would suggest you go with the audio interface for simplicity and features over the power supply.

I've been looking to upgrade my audio setup for quite some time now and the main motivation is that both my Blue Snowball and Sennheiser HD 429s are literally held together with hot glue. They work but it's annoying and I'm not sure how much longer either are going to last. Anyways, I'm under the impression that the MXL 770 microphone I've been looking at needs a phantom power supply like this because it's not USB. And I also read that an audio interface such as this would work. Thoughts on just phantom power supply vs audio interface? The second question is for the ATH AD700x headphones. I believe the impedance is low enough that I can just plug them straight into the on board audio so that means no DAC/AMP? Thanks for the help!

I would just go simpler and get a usb mic

It should work with no amp.

But impedance doesn't determine that, look at sensitivity
