I just overclocked my GTX 970 and i am pretty certain it is safe, but i just wanted to check anyway (evga SSC)

Under stress (valley bench)

1.243 core voltage (+25)

Max Power Limit

Temp limit at 87 degrees

core clock (with GPU boost) 1547 (+130)

memory clock - 3686 MHz (+180)

Fan speed on auto

Max temps after 30 min of valley benchmark were 80 degrees

Thanks in advance for your help

Nothing you do in software without any bios mods will be safe/ wont harm your card in any tangible way.

+25mv should not affect your cards longevity much, if at all.

The best way to know if it's good is dial back the voltage until you start getting issues then bring it back to the last stable setting then you're good.

i would try and reduce the voltage and see if you can still get the same core and mem clock speeds. should lower the temperatures.

but, yes, nonetheless thats a good overclock.

To The Vet!

-snip-

87c seems a little hot for that, are you able to achieve that overclock without extra voltage??

Try to see what the max you can get is without voltage and let us know, and maybe amore agressive fan profile.

I have two open coolers in sli with +200 on the core and +350 on mem and they don't run that hot.

-edit-

Didn't mean to leave this out..

It's not inherently dang erous to run at that temp, just not ideal.

9/10 times there's no way to hurt a card in afterburner. Sometimes you get a shit card for that 1 time lol

Higher frame rate over higher resolution.
