I am keeping with the m-atx form factor for 2 reason.

1: going to college and would like a small form factor pc

2. able to upgrade more freely than ITX and could sli/cf if I ever wanted too.

Any improvements and advice would be much appreciated!

Where's the PSU? If you already have one, please say what it is, if you're going to get one, don't get a CX series.

I already have a CX750. It was a panic purchase since my old one died mid essay. Had to go to the store to buy one and bestbuy had it.

That build is not much better than your current one...

I forgot to mention I changed out my r9 290x. Using an r9 380 from a friend. I needed to sell it for personal reasons.

Seems like a solid build for the most part, gotta love that mATX form factor. You might want to consider getting a 250GB SSD instead of 120GB for your boot drive if you play a lot of games.

I was thinking about that. I may save up later for a 500gb ssd to dedicate just for gaming later down the road. I keep WoW and LoL on my 120gb ssd in my current rig.

I've had 0 issues with mine and as I said it was a needed purchase since mine died mid essay.

Yes, but when a PSU goes away, it might take other components with it

  1. get the h60 instead, it's better
  2. get an msi, asus, or asrock board. gigabyte won't let you set adaptive mode for your cache ratio and vring
  3. avoid that corsair psu
  4. get a better monitor
  5. r9 390
