Go to solution Solved by W-L,

So I am receiving a Gigabyte R9 290 tomorrow that has the Windforce 3x cooler on it and I am planning to paint part of the cooler.

My question to you is whenever or not primer is needed?

Thanks

Yes you must scuff up teh surface first an use primer for spray painting, if you use plasti-dip you don't need anything, here's a good guide i have under General painting:

I would...but for the color I want, I can't seem to find a 2 in 1.

i would use a primer... especially if the cooler on it has a fair bit of black... a good grey primer will suit for darker colours and a white primer for your lighter colours i find.

Just in case you don't know, painting the cooler voids the warranty. If the want the warranty just use Plasti-Dip. Otherwise use self etching primer, it cost the same and will give you much better results.
