Apple Store Nightmare

I have been doing tech for 5 something years. In my local Apple Store mall, I am a known charter. I am known for helping customers. I always tell customers that I am not paid by Apple and I am just giving honest opinions from a consumer level. Anyways I had an hour to kill in the mall today and was just going to look at the store. Was not really in the mood to help anyone. Then I heard this older woman talking to her son about how she can't decide between this MacBook and MacBook Pro. So I went over explained to her who I am and got to work. She was so happy to see me and all was great. Then 3 Apple Mangers and 2 Officers surrounded me and forced me out of the store. Apparently the son told on me. The lady was pissed. She kept saying to let me work with her. I have been doing this crap for years and been giving consumer recommendations to people for so long and never had this happen to me. Just can't believe it. What is even sadder is I know every employe and they knew me. Some love seeing me and let me do what I do. Idk I guess I am just shocked.

You're preventing people from doing their jobs. While what you're doing is nice, don't get in the way of someone trying to do their job. As you said, many of those guys are your friends (so they're not doing it out of spite) but they're just trying to work.

Some people say no. If a apple guy comes up and says "do u need help" I let the customer answer. If they yes than I leave. If I notice anything to point where I am in the way, I leave.

They know me. I don't get payed but I am a nice guy trying to help. The Apple Store knows me and they know what I do. This is a first.

You are not obligated to help these people. However, the people hired to do so are.

Wow. That's harsh man. Personally I would have had no problem with something like that. Heck, I could probably walk into a PC World (equivalent in the US would be best-buy) store and do the same thing, and not get approached about it - although they'd probably kick me out for loitering in the shop for a long time (but apparently young unsupervised kids playing flash games on the computers all day long is acceptable).

The employees are obligated to sell Apple products and to help people. The OP appears to be offering harmless honest advice based on experience, separate from what the employees are supposed to do.

Who are you asking? The customers? The customers aren't the employees. They're not working. You are preventing the employees from doing their job, which is probably why you were sent out. You even alluded that you were resisting. You were "forced" out of the store and wanted to "argue" with them.

Youre not supposed to give your personal opinion when working at a store, youre supposed to get the customer to purchase the product, maybe you were being "too nice"
