I'm currently using Apple TV, but it's so limited, and the aplications such as YouTube is really bad.

What I intend to use it for: Netflix, YouTube, Kiss Anime, other streming services, Spotify, SoundCloud, and web browsing in general.

Going to use it on my TV.

Can it play (YouTube, Netflix and other Videos) in 1080p without lag?

Wouild it work with my home theater system?

Should i change my Apple TV with Raspberry Pi?

Is there any drawbacks of using Raspberry Pi compared to Apple TV?

Odroid. Much faster than the raspberry pi. You can get a Samsung Exynos5422  (octa core) for 74 bucks. or you can get a 1.5ghz Amlogic ARM CPU with a Mali 450 MP2 GPU for 37 bucks.

If you want more details, go here: http://www.hardkernel.com/main/main.php

I thought I had some money... Oh wait... I spent it all ;(

Raspberry Pi isn't designed for video playback. It would likely be as slow as your old Apple TV. It also has no WiFI (if you don't have Ethernet)

I would suggest upcoming Chromecast 2, or normal Chromecast if you need it right now.

not going to argue on the compute sticks power, but i was considering it, until like ALL the reviews i read on it said it was quite noisy.... But you know, thats what you get when you have a tiny fan at insane RPMs
