Planning on my first build

BiggestFan
Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Like others have said, your build is overkill.

Even this is overkill but it would be my recommendation,

Here you go: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1reMd

Crossfire ready.

Hello everyone. I need some advice for my first build and some opinions. The pc is mainly going to be used for gaming (games like: runescape, tf2, cod etc...) and programming (Java).

I have already picked out components for it. Would it be a good build? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1ns5n

Edit: Going for more intensive gaming later on tho.

CPU: FX-8320 @ 4.0GHz | Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme4 | RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB | GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950  | SSD: Kingston SSDNow 120GB | HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB | PSU: OCZ 750W ATX12V | CPU Cooler: CM Hyper 212 EVO | Case: Corsair Carbide 300R | Display: BenQ RL2455HM 24"

your build absolute overkill for the games you are playing
seriously, go with something that would be around $600 for the games you are playing

Runescape can run on everything and anything. Don't need to list that.

That system is fine though, there are some cheaper options but sure, go ahead.

Ryzen 5 1500x, Noctua NH-L9x65 SE-AM4, GA-AB350N, 16GB 1600Mhz, EVGA GTX 970, 250GB Samsung 960 Evo, 120GB Samsung 840 Evo, 1TB WD Green & 2TB Seagate Barracuda. 650w OCZ ZX & Cooler Master Elite 130. Acer CB241HQK 4K, LG IPS234V-PN 1080p, Ducky Zero Shine All Blue/Anne Pro Brown/SteelSeries Apex Pro & Razer Naga 2014

Looks great to me. You could get a lower wattage PSU, but you might as well stick with that one if you ever want to run SLI or something more.

The games you listed could run on an overclocked toaster. You could easily get away with a system 1/3 of that price.

As already mentioned your build is good enough and fully capable of running all the games you mentioned. You could build something that allows you to play all those games for less if you wanted to.

Haha no. Maybe he wants to get into more intense games later or something, you never know.

a 760 is perfect for all games atm, so unless he's not going to be playing F2P's other than planetside, he could use a GT640 and it would be fine with his games

CPU Cooler:  Corsair H110 94.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($109.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard:  MSI Z87-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($154.99 @ Newegg)

Video Card:  Asus GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card  ($675.98 @ SuperBiiz)

Monitor:  Acer H236HLbid 60Hz 23.0" Monitor  ($170.10 @ Amazon)
Mouse:  Corsair Vengeance M65 Wired Laser Mouse  ($59.99 @ Microcenter)
Other: NZXT Hue 16.9 Million colour Lightning solution ($28.19)
Total: $1952.06
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

You can also wait for the 9000 series from AMD in september and get a 9970 - 9950.

16 GB is absolutely overkill for anuything that is not heavy rendering. Windows 8 pro isn't a good value AT ALL just get the regular version good enough for gaming/java scripting.

Yes this wait for the 9XXX series and buy a 9970 instead of the 780 i chose in the build. Also guys when he has the money to build a beast system why not encourage that?
