So.......

I have a little plan to make my own homebuilt music device using a raspberry pi, laptop hard drive and so on.

the idea is for it to be touch screen with a Linux operating system and im going to need a light Linux operating system which is when i came across Crunch bang Linux.

the Only problem is i don't think it will have touch screen compatibility.

So im going to need either a solution operating system or a way of getting crunch bang Linux to work with a touch screen.

I can do a little coding if need be.

Unity is the only desktop UI that i'm aware of being touch friendly. KDE has some features and planned full touch support but it is not here yet.

Now if you mean if the touchscreen will work for the device.... Well that's up to the touchscreen model and if there are drivers for it in the kernel/ out there to install.

Right so this is the LCD that would be ideal.

do you know a way i could install the drivers for linux. i was thinking of using the fbtft drivers but im not sure if its on the supported list or not. there were drivers listed with the lcd if you follow a link but i think they were just for raspbian. i dont have a great knowledge of the raspberry pi and im not completely sure what im doing.

Just use the driver linked in the description and it should work fine.

"For driving the 3.5inch RPi LCD ,you need to install the Raspberry OS that we provide, you can find our configured system image at CD:"

doesnt that mean you need to use there specific OS

I would assume so, they decided to compile the driver into raspbian vs letting user compile it themselves. I have no idea if they have any drivers for other linux.
