Integrated motherboard graphics

My friend would like to buy a new computer with no GPU and CPU without integrated graphics until he saves up a bit of money for a couple of months for a GPU.
So I'm wondering is it possible that a motherboard has integrated/onboard graphics so the PC can at least run for a while?

It says "Onboard Video: Integrated AMD Radeon R/HD8000/HD7000 Series Graphics in the A-Series APU"

Could he run a computer without a GPU or integrated graphics of a CPU?

the integrated graphics are usually built INTO the processor now

Wellvthat will be hard unless you get a really old CPU. Just get one with integrated you can still use a GPU with it like a A10 has good integrated graphics

Unless he goes with a really old socket or a server board, which wouldn't make any sense... 

 

What's stopping him from just getting a processor with integrated graphics for the time being?

Yes he could, all intel CPU's have onboard graphics and some motherboards(typically ASrock) have some integrated graphics like from Nvidia for example

The CPU is an AMD Ahtlon II X4 840k. I'm pretty sure it's better than any A8 and much cheaper than it, and much much cheaper than an A10.

AMD has way better graphics on the CPU side because they have CPU cores that work in tandem with logical GPU cores
