Do they have to be?

Hi im in the process of completing my build. Im hoping to get a GTX 980 Ti by friday and then a few weeks after that I'm looking to get some peripherals. Ill cut to the chase.... I want to get 3 monitors however I am curious to know if i need to buy monitors that all have the same specs thanks!

For 3D Vision Surround they have to be the same Model, for 2D i believe they have to have the same specs (Resolution, frequency etc.)

For work reasons... sure, any monitor setup will go. You`ll feel more comfortable if they are the same size and resolution tho.

 

For gaming. 3 monitor setups are WOW the first week, and suck shit afterwards.

A single big 21:9 is better if your goal is gaming.
