Hi, I was just wondering is it a good idea to put programs on usb drives. I am thinking of getting a 32gb sandisk ultra usb stick and butting a couple of programs on it like android studio. It's because our it department think a 750 gb server is adequate for 800 users which is not cos there is like 600MB left (LOL) and you are not allowed to install programs onto school computers.

Thanks!

You can do this, just so long as you install the application and all of its necessary files onto the flash drive. It's a formatted digital medium like anything else, so it'll work fine. For some things like CCleaner, it's actually super-helpful to do it this way.

edit: just don't put any desktop shortcuts on any computer you're running it from, unless you're sure that it will always appear as the same drive letter, and as long as you have it plugged in when you click on the shortcut, because otherwise it will bug out, like "I can't find that anywhere"

You can definitely install programs onto a USB drive, however it will be slower to launch the program if you are using usb 2.0. I recommend usb 3.0. We have the same thing in our school, so me and my friends install games on it like csgo and even cs 1.6 on it to play during lunch times.
