To start it out, you are looking at something like an i5 4670, 8 gigs of RAM, and say a GTX 760 or Radeon 7950. With that you will need to pick a motherboard, case, and I would say a 500-650 watt power supply. Might leave just a few bucks left over for a SSD ;)

it's slightly over your budget($10), but this would be my recommendation. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1qVX6

Do you need OS or peripherals?

rip off

the i3 acts like a dual core in gaming hyperthreading never used in games really

the 7950 can be gotten for cheaper than a 7870 xt

you want 8gb of ram

the eco h60 isn't all that great of a cooler

that psu is so-so

a 1tb drive is pretty cheap these days

Might end up being a bit too much once you put a nice case and hhd/ssd in there. but you can get a cheaper motherboard, or go the AMD route.

Also, you can find a 7950 for cheaper than that price in the link.

Less efficient. It will use more power out of the wall to make the same amount of power to the components of the computer. Basically not as good quality, but its not a very big difference. The BEST you will ever see is about 92% efficient, where a bronze is still over 80%.

What he said^

You don't need it. It's more of a marketing ploy that they say bronze, silver, etc. instead of just putting the efficiency in numbers.

Is the budget just for the tower? Do you need a copy of Windows?

I would put forward all the money into the tower in the initial build.

run ubuntu on it and hook it up to an old lcd and ps2 keyboard and mouse sitting in the corner. Then work your way up

Desk

chair

Monitor

Windows

Mouse

Keyboard

Then your set in about 5 months

I would like to point out that I sold my bed to even afford my rig...
