I7 930 Vs 4790k HELP!

im just wondering if its Worth Upgrading to 4790k from i7 930???     "or Skylake 6700k kinda Expensive not sure yet"

 

 

yea my i7 930 runs at 2.80 GHZ what if i OC it to 4.0 GHZ, it will be the same as 4790k devil's canyon?

It will greatly improve performance in those multi-threaded apps. You won't see a big improvement in games(depending on the game) before you upgrade that gpu. 

For your use i'd upgrade.

Overclocking your 930 to 4GHz wont give the same performance as a 4790k.

And yes i would totally upgrade.

if you really need the gpu horses it'll be worth it.

 

that said, if you really need the gpu horses, skylake may be more interesting.

If you're interested in the features of Skylake get the i7 6700k otherwise just go with Haswell Refresh for the i7 4790k.

well i really dont know what i really gives X-D all i know its DDR4 and it will run fast haha i need to look into it more X-D i just didnt want to pay too much on the DDR4 and Mobo's Price is like over kill

It is possible it will bottleneck a little, but a solid overclock on that CPU should help a lot.

If you're upgrading, go with skylake. Specially for photoshop

i7-930 won't really be a limiting factor for a GTX 670, unless we're talking MMO's, RTS games with lots of units or games like GTA 5/Far Cry 4/Crysis 3

Then don't. With FSB overclocking, you need to know what you're doing. Those old chips don't have unlockable multipliers.

Better yet, go X99 than Skylake.
