Second generation Tesla tech from Beyerdynamic

I had heard of these earlier, but I didn't think they had been released yet. I was browsing on amazon just now and saw that both the dt1770 and the t1 Gen 2 have both been released. Has anyone had any time with them yet? Impressions/thoughts?

I intend to buy the T1 gen 2 once I get paid from my new job; unless innerfidelity measurements reveal it to be as stupid as the original version. Tyll is on record saying he does not consider the T1 to be a flagship, and that the T5p is an "abomination of harshness".

Hopefully the revision is enough to clean up these issues. Head-fi impressions so far seem promising, but then it's head-fi so who knows.

Well, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it once (if) you get a pair!

I'll be sure to post some, maybe do a full review if someone doesn't beat me to it. I'm thinking I'll pick up a JDS Labs Element at the same time, but we'll see.

So, it seems that looks do matter to SSL after all!!! (or the actual features it has over the O2...)

A desktop O2+ODAC from mayflower is $330 and the element has a more powerful amp.

I always thought O2's were too expensive as well.

Maybe.

I like my knobs on top as much as the next guy, so I do want an element (now that I know it exists), but it's still a shocking high price.

Understandable. It's the poision of the snake oil audio industry, pervading everything. After looking at the prices on Schiit's website - you know, supposedly a "budget" product line - $350 for a DAC/amp combo starts to look reasonable.

I like big knobs.

Someone should make an amp where the entire thing is a knob
