Z77 Sabertooth Ram issue

Go to solution Solved by Volbet,

It is definatly GPU related as soon as i add my GPU back in bsod right away. Changing the slots my ram was in did seem to help though. Heres an analysis of the dump file.

On Mon 8/12/2013 9:00:10 AM GMT your computer crashed

crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\081213-25687-01.dmp

This was probably caused by the following module: atikmdag.sys (atikmdag+0x23C5C)

Bugcheck code: 0xA0000001 (0x5, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0)

Error: CUSTOM_ERROR

file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\atikmdag.sys

product: ATI Radeon Family

company: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

description: ATI Radeon Kernel Mode Driver

A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: atikmdag.sys (ATI Radeon Kernel Mode Driver, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.).

Google query: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. CUSTOM_ERROR

To put this in perspective i have had something like 32 blue screens in the past 2 days i need all the help i can get guys i appreciate it so much.

That is definatly related to the GPU driver. Try and boot into safe mode and run DriverSweeper to remove all AMD/ATI drivers on the system. Then you can try and reinstall the latest stable release of CCC

I recently received my long awaited Sabertooth Z77 (my Asrock Extreme 3 died) I have had constant issues with blue screen. I'm pretty sure i have narrowed it down to a ram issue i have 2 sets of ram that i have tried both of them i have a 2x4Gb set of Corsair Vengeance and a 2x8Gb set of dominator Platinum's (CMZ8GX3M2A160 CMD16GX3M2A1600C9). I haven't found a definitive answer to this other than it could be a ram issue but both kits are known to work i think its more so a issue with the bios. The Errors on the blue screen are mostly MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. When i try to access the dump files it just access denied so i dont know how to get to them. I'll provide all the possible info on request i just really need some helps guys. I appreciate every bit of info that helps greatly.

Yes, I have gone through and tried clear CMOS and MemOK. The one thing i noticed was that Dominator Platinums are meant for 1.65 volts and in this it says DRAM voltage is only 1.5, could that be causing it? should i set it manually to 1.65? i also kind of got into the dump files but it was all weird symbols and stuff.

Yes, manually set the voltage, speed and latency of the RAM. Are you using the Vengeance and the Dominator RAM at the same time? It's not usually reecommended to use two different types of RAM in the same build.

Ill go look into bios updates next, i tried running off of integrated graphics to rule out GPU and it still blue screens. Ill switch the slots and modules to see if that helps currently its in slots A2 and B2

Are those slots the same colour? I don't know Asus' naming scheme that well.
