Hey Users

I need a decent watercooling pump for under 50$ that is available in New Zealand

I dont know a lot about liquid cooling so help is greatly appreciated

i mean technically you can go to a local pet store and buy a pump with enough power to pump your system

<p>Wish I could have this already!! : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qTLRjX

try one of the Phobya DC12 pumps (220, 260, and 400) I've found them to be 40-50 AUD so it shouldn't be far off NZ pricing.

Edit: seems a bit odd to have such a low pump budget for a desk system with 2 resevoirs, meaning you're putting more money into reservoirs than the pump (assuming "proper" resevoirs)

Honestly you don't really want to skimp that much on the pump, it's basically what makes the whole setup run. If it's for a complex loop a poor pump can cripple performance. Also, for quietness sake, a good pump will run quiet and powerful even on a low setting.

The two most recommended pumps are the D5 and the DDC type pumps. But those are at a higher pricepoint.

Phobya and EK offer lower price pumps, DC12 series from Phobya, and DCP series from EK. Personally I wouldn't go for either of them, but the get the job done and can help you build an inexpensive loop if you are new to WC.

If you can stretch your budget a bit I'd suggest getting a D5 Pump, they are quiet and powerful, can't go wrong with one.

well, as he said. The D5 is the absolute best (but cost around $100 AUD), the DDC is comparable, but substantially louder (and around $70 AUD).

The DC12 series from Phobya are good for the price (~$40-$60 AUD) and size, but a bit loud, reviewed and compared here: http://www.xtremehardware.com/eng-reviews/comparative-test-of-phobya-dc12-220-dc12-260-and-dc12-400-pumps-201107105434/

EK/Alphacool D5 Series is the only one I would ever get

Brand on the D5 doesn't matter they are all made by the same manufacturer and they just put their sticker on it.

How much louder is the DDC compared to the D5?  I was looking at EK kits, but they all have DDC pumps and not D5.

I've got one of the 6w ek ddc x res and it is really pretty quiet. At full power it is about as loud as my hard drive

I figured since the kit comes with a heatsink on the DDC, it removes the need to a fan to actively cool it, maybe, but I'm worried about mounting it and it rattling around, even with anti-vibration.

The pump it's self has rubber mounts that it screws to and the mount it screws into also has plastic washers. I haven't used many other pumps to compare it to but i like my pc quiet and have mostly noctua fans
