I'm currently rocking a GTX 550ti and this thing simply isn't able to give me a good performance on high settings. It will also be destroyed by next-gen games so I'm just looking for a card that will give great performance for the price and will be able to play BF4, Watch Dogs, etc. My processor is a i5-3570k

Currently the 7970 is $320. Is that a good buy?

-Thanks for the help

At the moment, probably a 7950. I would wait for the 9000 series though.

Edit: Where the hell is this 7970? They are super expensive over here.

Those have been rumored to be released or at least to be spoken about in September right?

It should be around at the end of September - October time.

I personally expect AMD to release two cards, one around the $549-$499 price range and another around the $449-$399 price range.
So waiting might be a good idea, a 7970 for 320 dollars is still a brilliant buy though & that's what I'd recommend.

A good 7970 is the around the same price as a good 770 and considering when you buy from zotac you get 3 free games. Plus nvidia gives an extra 2 games free. And spare 50 extra money's for 4gb semi future proofing.
