Quad Channel motherboard with Dual Channel?

Hello, and thanks for this already!

 

Just a small (and/or stupid) question:

If you have a motherboard which is made for Quad Channel, can you run the RAM in Dual Channel?

And if so, would it even be advised? (Is Quad Channel > Dual Channel in many ways?)

The motherboard just supports it, it is not needed for it to be safe or anything. Dual channel should work fine
