Hey guys,

With the advent of apple's "pressure sensing" 3d touch, something came to mind.

I REALLY don't mean for this to be a "android had it first" thing (so please keep the apple hate to yourself if you have any), but hasn't there always been a "pressure" gauge present when you turn on "pointer location" in developer options?

I figured out that this "pressure" really just measures the contact area of your finger, but still, it seems like it roughly works, there just hasn't been anything that makes use of that data.

That aside, do you think 3d touch will really take off?

It all depends on how it is implemented. If it works seamlessly with all other functions, then yes it will become a hit. I never used it on Android so I don't know why it wasn't a hit there.

I've tried force touch on the new macbook and it's a really nice feature to have.

Did force touch feel like an actual mechanical "switch" or did it feel like haptic feedback? Imo you can't replace the feel of an real mechanical switch when it comes to button clicks. (I've been wanting a smartphone with a real keyboard since forever T_T)

Hard to say. Most people feel it as an actual click. I had a hard time telling myself, but ultimately it feels very natural and nothing like a haptic feedback.

That's cool.

I'm really interested in the "measuring the microscopic deformation in the glass touchscreen" that Apple claimed that they do, I wonder if it's actually as they claim or fluff and they're just measuring the changes in contact area of your finger when you press harder.

(the hate will flow hard if it's the latter)

Haha it's probably a bit of both but if it works, it works! Time will tell  :P

Im surprised nobody has been hating on the "retina flash" where the screen literally just goes brighter to take a selfie in low light. That's a huge selling point imo

Oh yeah, lol forgot about that.

I remember once I took a selfie in low light and thought "why doesn't the screen just go white when I take the photo to act as flash?".

Gj apple for realising a common problem.
