Best cpu and mobo for gaming?

Dennis01

Hi guys,

What is the best cpu and mobo combination for gaming?

Is it i5 or i7?

I would want to overclock so a K series cpu and a Z series mobo is a must.

I currently have an i5 4670k OC @ 4.2ghz and a Gigabyte z97 mobo.

Any advice would be great thanks.

An i7-5960X would be the most powerful... But... Obviously no one is going to spend that much, so I'd go with an i5-4690K or an i7-4790K.

if u already have 4670k and a z97 mobo i think your good the top selling gaming cpu is 4690k which has no major advantages i think you should stick with what u got in terms of cpu and mobo and get a better gpu ... but if you are doing video editing and rendering i suggest u get the i7 4790k

Your current setup is fine already, but I'd say i7-4790K (Z97) because it would be an upgrade for you.

But if you're planning for gaming then i5-4690K (Z97) is great but you've got 4670K so going to 4690K isn't worth it.

i5-6600K (but not worth the upgrade since you've got that 4670K) and i7-6700K are good as well but require DDR4 and Z170 Motherboard.

yeah those might be worth the wait i just decided to pull the trigger ACER also have a new edition coming out but i think it's the same panel they only changed the case and now it will look like a gamery transformer ish plasti wierd thing IMHO i don't want that on my desk so i went with the current one which is indeed IPS and from the reviews a lot better than the swift which is TN and suffer from pixel inversion and bad viewing angle.

Color reproduction and vieing angle is a lot better on IPS pannels obviously.

I'M pretty sure the IPS ''swift'' will use the same IPS panel as the Acer predator does anyways...but still it might be worth the wait the prices might come down a bit and it will maybe look better too...from the review the Acer case isnt that great but i'm fine with it...that' might be improved on the ips swift.
