Hey,

my GF is still running an old Athlon II x4 945 and so it's time to step things up.

I'm thinking about something like that:

She still has a GTX 760 and a 550 W PSU so there is no need for that.

And there are still HDD's around so no need for them either.

There is no real Budget but i want to keep the cost down and get the most and newest stuff out of it.

Location is Austria.

Thanks guys!

Thanks, jeah better GPU is somewhere on the horizon but there is no need for it right now.

Why going for Skylake? I mean she probably already has 1x8GB or 2x4GB kit of DDR3 RAM, you could reuse that, throw in another 8 gigs and go for a better CPU instead, this would work perfectly, this Xeon is basically a cheaper i7-4770 without the integrated GPU:PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

No she is still using DDR2 memory so there is nothing there to use.

Thats why i was thinking about a state of the art build and not an early 2014 CPÜ.

Or is there such a gap between the i5-6500 and the E3-1231v3?

The E3-1231v3 performs on par with the i7-4770. It would crush the 6500 in CPU heavy tasks ^^
