Bottelneck

my friend has a FX4100 cpu overclocked at 4.8 GHZ and he is aking are there any chances of getting bottelnecks if he uses an R9 280X please help me as i dont have an answer to this question he has a 14" monitor with resolution 1366X768 and 8GB RAM and 650Watt psu.

but really, at that low of a res, pretty much everything is gonna neck on the cpu.

yes it will, especially at that resolution pretty much every cpu will be a bottleneck

As resolution goes down, the CPU tends to become the limiting factor. As resolution goes up, the GPU tends to be the limiting factor.

AMD says best match is a FX-83X0 CPU but I do think in most cases a FX-4300 or 860K will do.

 

Personally a FX-6300 or a i5 is a good idea and well "bulldozer is kinda terrible to be fair..."

at the res your playing at you dont need a gpu upgrade. like ever if he plans on upgrading your is still good for most games with a 280x. the limiting factor is the cpu if you bump up the res but really you already should be maxing out your refresh rate in every game. instead of a cpu or gpu upgrade i would get a new monitor of some sort. its what you spend most of the time looking at and effects your experience sometimes more then the gpu.
