I think the improvements that DX12 are supposed to bring may make game devs start to use it sooner than later. In the case I would defiantely choose Team Green as they (I know it is only one benchmark but it is still very telling) have been shown to work for DX12 better than Nvidia.

980Ti beats it right now. As for DX12 results? Nobody can say as it's too early to know. HBM or not, having 6GB of VRAM will be sufficient for the time being and for at least a few years. Heck, depending on your resolution and settings you could easily get by with 4GB.

But to reference someone else; Paul's Hardware just released a video comparing dual 980's, dual 980Ti's, and dual Fury X's in SLI/Crossfire. At the end of his video he said something along the lines of: when building a PC and choosing components you must keep in mind that the technological world moves at a blistering pace. And you must be resigned to the fact that newer, better hardware will always be just around the corner; regardless of how powerful your system is it won't be the fastest thing out there for very long.

The problem with his review was;

He didn't use Windows 10 which has been shown to improve AMD performance more than Nvidia.

Also he tied the clocks for the reference Nvidia card to that of the SSC edition which would have effectively overclocked the reference card.

Not really a straight and fair test IMHO

No current GPU is future-proof. AMD cards will most likely perform better than Nvidia cards in DX12, but Fury and Fury X have only 4 GB VRAM, which is really bad for higher resolutions than 1080p and upcoming games, and 390/390X don't have enough horsepower so 8 GB on them are useless.

I have a 780ti I picked up about a year and half ago, it will still do all the games  i have on ultra at 2560x1440, but I can see vram with it being and issue on a few of the new releases I haven't purchased yet like gtav or the witcher3 both of which i want. I have come close to maxing out the 3gb of vram on it in  few of my games. Next card I get which will probably be about a year out will have at least 6gb.

I apologise, I did get your point but that review got me annoyed as I am sick and tired of people constantly slating AMD or not giving them a fair chance on a relevant and level playing field.

I didn't really care so much about the review aspect as I dislike multi-GPU setups (for various reasons I won't get into). I just generally like how channels like Jayztwocents and Paul's Hardware lay out the facts.

Jay is a proprietor of pulling the trigger on a purchase: if you keep waiting and waiting, you'll never buy anything.

Paul, well I already summed up what he said.

I would give them a chance if they could sell me something i want. I want the fastest Card and NVidia has the fastest Card. I realy dont Care if its Red or Green.

Isn't the Titan Z faster than the 980ti? also I am sure my 295 has beaten it in some tests. I have yet to see a relevant (to me) comparison. When the test is done between the top tier cards from each side are tested on an operating system that is the most current one on offer with fully up to date drivers and no overclocking in any way, then we will know for certain. Until then we will keep going round and around in circles.

The Tests are done and the FuryX lost. And the Titan Z is no Gaming Card.

ok I will re-phrase it, The tests were not done on the latest mainstream operating system.

I will re-phrase it again. No one has shown the performance between these two graphics cards on an operating system which has shown significant gains in performance on AMD cards.

The only thing that count is the OS the most People use. I know you´re on a desperate search for a Proof that AMD is better, but you should accept the Truth and get over it. And that´s pretty much all i have to say about it. Next Topic.

I don't need proof, I am happy with my purchase and I am confident that AMD is the best choice IMHO

Future proofing on the GPU is wasteful. Case in point, the GTX 780 released in May 2013 at $650. Then the GTX 780 Ti released in November 2013 for $700. In September 2014 Nvidia released the GTX 970 for $330 that outperformed the 780 at launch and is pretty much even with and often beats the 780 Ti in new games. With Nvidia introducing a new architecture in 2016 and with how unbelievably well the 970 sold, you're probably looking at the same thing happening again, but maybe even more extreme with the shrink from 28 nm to 16 nm that Pascal is supposed to bring.

It's not like with CPUs where the $300 i7 you can buy today isn't all that much better than the $300 i7 you could have bought in 2011. With GPU it just seems to make more sense to go for what you need now and adapt later.

Cant disagree but if there's something I dont like is having to upgrade your pc every year... feels like a certain burden thats why I wanted the best avaliable atm... Max I could do is get a 980ti and then sell it if pascal is indeed such a big evolution as people think
