Hiya guys,

I am new to the forums and since I decided to 'upgrade' my ol' beast. I thought i would ask you guys for advice. On which Graphics card to buy that would be still good for next gen games possibly. My max spending bracket is about 270 pounds. So that would be $412 after the conversion from Pounds to Dollars. Keep in mind this Graphics card has to be sold in UK as i do not wish to wait for my graphics card to arrive after a year xD (That was a joke for some that did not get it.)

I was looking into;

Sapphire AMD R9 390 Nitro Graphics Card
and
MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Gaming Twin Frozr

Read and watched a couple of a reviews about them but they still have not given me a sure go. Came here just for the advice before i make my final decision as some say that could be a waste of money and so on. I will mostly be playing GoW2 (Guild of wars 2) but would want to be in a mind set if a game comes out this year which i like i would not need to check my GFX requirements if it is going to run on min settings xD

Thanks a lot guys and please give me information on the products you recommend not just because 'it is better'...

P.s feel free to suggest a cheaper card that could potentially give the same results. Does not have to be THAT price. It is just the limit i have set my self.

tl;dr
Need advice on which graphics card to buy with a budget of around $412. ty.

i got r9 280 (not the 280X) and it runs all my games well.. I play skyrim heavily modded and locked at 60 FPS 1080P.  it's 3gb

Main PC: 4690k // Z97 // R9 280 3GB // 8gb Ram // CM Elite 430 Case // 750 EVGA B PSU // 1TB HDD

Living Room "Console" PC: FX 8350 // 990a SLI Krait // R7 360 // 8gb Ram // HAF 912 // 750 EVGA B PSU // 1TB HDD

Future Plans:

find a 2nd monitor at a pawn shop

Sell/giveaway R7 360, move r9 280 into console PC, buy a better GPU for main PC.

Those are nice cards but for me, it's R9 390 < GTX 970 < R9 390X

In my country the 390X is selling for 420usd so maybe you should go and check that out. However, I only recommend the 390/X if you're gaming on 1440p. If you're only on 1080p, then just go with the GTX 970. It'll happily run a lot of games well :)

i5 4670k | Noctua NH0-U12S | Asus Z97M Plus | Kingston HyperX Fury 8gb | Palit GTX 980 Ti Super Jetstream 6G | Samsung 850 EVO 250gb

WD Caviar Blue 1tb | Seasonic M12II 850W | Fractal Design Define R5 | Dell U3014 1600p 30" 60Hz

Corsair K65 | Razer Orochi | Bose QuietComfort 15 | Creative SBS A350 2.1

970 if your going to be 1080p for a while

390 if 1440p or 4k

Holy shit these fast responses :D I guess 390 it is. The only reason i added them both it is because of $5 difference from where i live. So 390 it is :D

Well

With the 970 you have better day 1 driver support

1 click optimization with Geforce Exerpience

And with the 390 you get slightly better performance and more future compatibility because it has double the vram AND so far we know, it performs alot better in DirectX 12 games.

If you have 600W it should be fine

But that is excluding the CPU/fans etc?

yeah 550W would cut it close but if you have a great quality PSU you could get away with 550W

Definitely the Sapphire R9 390 NITRO http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-Version-Graphics-11244-00-20G/dp/B00ZGL8CYY/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1441676552&sr=1-2&keywords=r9+390&pebp=1441676569728&perid=115MKAXR2RAS3BGQE290. The R9 390 is a faster card and for 1440p or higher resolutions it pulls away even further in the lead. Good choice with Sapphire, best AMD manufacturer in the industry. :)
