New laptop suggestions?

Hi everyone!

 

My parents recently said that they would buy me a new laptop that has to last me a few years (or at least for my next 2 years of education). 

 

For all of my life I have been using a Windows OS on my main systems so I am sceptical about moving to Mac OS, but that doesn't mean that a MacBook isn't an option. I will most likely use this as my secondary system but I don't want to do any gaming on this system. On my current college course the only thing I can think of mentioning is that I am doing some Android coding, apart from that I can not think of anything else worth mentioning. Another thing is that it has to have a nice display that will last. In the past I have had laptops that displays have started to fail after 2 months because of how flimsy they were.

My sister has a Dell Latitude XT3 she uses for college/ coding it works pretty well (if you get the one with the i7)  She is a software engineer.

i recommend something by lenovo. the G50-70 is pretty cheap and the build quality is awesome for the price.

one of my classmates has one and uses it to draw in AutoCAD and Solidworks

I was thinking about getting a Lenovo G/B50-70/80 but I then watched some reviews and it had a really bad display

A Mac is a viably option but I am afraid that the storage in the retina models within our price range will do for me. Saying that I do use a 1tb external drive so I guess that wont be much of a problem

All you have said is you do a bit of coding.. so i have no reason to assume it wont be enough storage

 

You can use external storage, or get 200gb of icloud for $3.99 a month etc which is good

 

Still IMO its one of the best (none gaming) laptops available on the market
