i5 will drop frames like a mother ducker, get a Xeon E3-1231 V3.

And why the fuck you spending over 200$ on a motherboard, I realize your Canadian like me, but that's just unacceptable.

Honestly socket LGA 1150 is still good and you'll probably be able to get it for much cheaper, I'd go with the 4690k, Gigabyte Black Motherboard, and 16GB's of DDR3 and you'll probably save enough money to pick up a SSD.

Yea good point but I kinda want the future proof-ness of the new socket and ddr4 ram . and personally I dont really care about an ssd

A Xeon 1231v3 is basically a locked i7.

If you don't care about an SSD you obviously have never used one.

Listen to these guys suggesting an SSD, it'll make life much smoother for you. There's no reason to have a high end computer without an SSD imo. :P

But Xeons arent made for gaming so isnt it really the opposite ??

And the motherboard i chose is the cheapest one I found with all the features i want and im giving it some point for aesthetics too..

go haswell, there is  %5 performance difference

"futureproofness" intel changes sockets almost every gen, so it will not last ling

a xeon e3 1231 v3 is pretty much an i7 4790

Yea ok but what other software would i put other then the OS on my SSD plus I dont mind adding an SSD to the build since im not that restricted on budget i just chose not to put one because i dont really turn off my computer that often so i dont boot up often too..

That xeon will be identical to a 4790K clocked at 3.5ghz, is just bined for longevity and operation in a server, but it will be fine on games.

Frequently used programs if you so desire. Steam, Chrome, OBS, Photoshop, Sony Vegas, MS Office, anything really.

You don't need a big one. I've got a 128GB SSD and it's truly fantastic.

So you cant overclock them right?

Yes but at 3.5ghz base it's more then capable for the tasks you are doing.

You used to be able to overclock xeons and they were fucking beasts at, but then they stopped doing that.

Xeon E3 V3 have Haswell cores. They offer nearly identical gaming performance as same clock & core/hyperthread i5/i7.

Overclocking is a hobby. While it is fun and can enhance performance, saving the added cost of an after market cooler and ZXXX motherboard allows for the addition of a decent ssd. An ssd will provide a better all around performance improvement.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Talking about motherboards witch one would you recommend?

Talking about motherboards witch one would you recommend?

I like Asus motherboards for their high quality, good BIOS, and nice utilities. Gigabyte would be my second choice. MSI, and Asrock also build very good enthusiast motherboards. The performance differences between models from these four manufacturers are very minor. Price pretty much distinguishes feature sets, although Asus boards do tend to be a bit more expensive than comparable models from Gigabyte, MSI, and Asrock. Pick the motherboard that has the features you want with a color scheme that suits at a price that fits comfortably in the budget.

If I was getting a Xeon I would consider Asus H97M-E/CSM, Asus H97-PLUS, and Asus H97-PRO GAMER.
